Activities That Wow
As you grow more comfortable with your vacation destination, you may find yourself wanting to venture further out. Nearby Summit County, home to some of the winter portions of the 2002 Olympics, offers the opportunity to see how the more athletic part of our nation trains and plays. Utah Olympic Park, 3419 Olympic Parkway, is still used as a training center for Olympic hopefuls today and offers guided tours, bobsled experiences, and a variety of other exciting activities. We are proud of our contributions to the Olympics, and in 2022 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Paralympic Games with a giant party at the Bob Wells Plaza on February 12. Offering photo ops with Olympic mascots, demonstrations of winter Olympic sports, and plenty of food from Riverhorse/Saltbox, a good time was had by all, and we are really sorry you missed it!
Summer hikes along the Doughnut Falls Trail just outside of Midvale are practically a required activity for Park City residents, and if your journey brings you to Park City during the summer solstice, said hike should be added to your itinerary. Located in the Big Cottonwood Canyon, the falls were the “pot of gold” at the end of our rainbow, providing rocks to climb on and a cool and romantic spot to share with a romantic interest. A scenic drive is easy to accomplish in Park City, and the Guardsman Pass Scenic Byway begins just 14 miles out of town and offers an especially breathtaking journey in the fall months as the fiery trees you pass will make your heart beat just a little faster. Spring visits, once the snows have melted, bring visions of colorful wildflowers that blanket the landscape, and as you travel towards the summit, there are more than a few spots where you will want to pull aside and take pictures that are destined to be worthy of framing.
