It is finally that time where most of our visitors often look forward to year after year. Of course, we are talking about ski season, and it is just around the corner here in Park City. Each winter you will find some of the best ski conditions taking place in our area. Park City has been a popular ski destination for generations and has hosted Olympic development programs and even has hosted the Olympic Games before too. Now is a good time to take a look into the ultimate guide at the upcoming Park City ski season. Here is what you need to know:
Park City Mountain Is the Destination
When it comes to finding the best destination for skiing in Park City you will find it to be quite easy. Park City Mountain is the only spot you need to check out during your visit. As the name suggests, Park City Mountain is right here in Park City and is extremely easy to get to. Getting up to the summit is as easy as riding the ski lifts from a variety of points across the mountain. Reaching them is also extremely easy with the gondolas downtown or by enjoying ski-in/ski-out properties found right by the ski lifts. Park City Mountain features an unbelievable amount of amenities as well on the mountain that we will jump to in a sec!
When to Go
You will find that skiing in Park City is enjoyable all winter long. The additional precipitation that Utah has seen over the last two years have extended the season out making it enjoyable for even longer. This year’s ski season is set to open up on November 22nd for those who want to hit the slopes on day one. We typically do not see heavy snowfall until December through March where the month of December alone averages around 64 inches of snow. With that being said the times with the best snow conditions range from January through February right after that heavy snowfall. This allows the mountain to have fresh powder and a solid base. These times are also the busiest for us in Park City as most skiers want to enjoy those peak slope conditions. For smaller crowds visit in the spring where there are less people and you can still typically find impressive powder for the slopes. The ski season typically ends around mid-April with a definitive end date changing from year to year.
Lessons and Gear Rentals
If you do not have any of your own ski gear, you can always rent it from the shop on Park City Mountain. A variety of packages are available including sport, performance, and demo to help you find the gear you need. Gear is available for a variety of ages too, with gear available for ages 3 and up. Now that you have your gear picked out, you can plan for any lessons you may need before hitting the slopes.
